Price of Politics: Hindrances and Impediments to Female Political Participation in Brazil

An exploration of all the things that impede female political participation in Brazil. The research paper takes a look at the idea that participation in politics comes at a cost to Brazilian women. In essence, women are often expected to relinquish either tangible or intangible entities in order to behave politically. Physical risk, legal uncertainty, loss of bodily autonomy, and the time spent fighting the system are common obstacles faced by women in Brazil.

This background guide helped to structure and lead debate for one of the conferences I chaired as part of the Model United Nations team at UCLA. This guide explores issues often discussed by UNESCO. As the leader of a Novice committee, I had to keep in mind that I was communicating information about issues of serious import to high schoolers and middle schoolers. This background guide specifically explores the following issues: the Preservation of Cultural Practices, Languages, and Traditional Knowledge; and the issue of Protecting World Heritage Sites and Cultural Property in Conflict Areas.

This background guide helped to structure and lead debate for one of the conferences I chaired as part of the Model United Nations team at UCLA. This guide explores issues often discussed by WHO. As the leader of a Novice committee, I had to keep in mind that I was communicating information about issues of serious import to high schoolers and middle schoolers. This background guide explores the following issues: Black Market Healthcare and Illicit Organ Trade; and Sanitation Standards and Healthcare Systems in Refugee Camps and Developing Nations.

This background guide helped to structure and lead debate for one of the conferences I chaired as part of the Model United Nations team at UCLA. This guide explores issues often discussed by the nations that comprise the Alliance of Small Island States. In particular, this background guide explores the following issues: the Economic and Social Development and Diversification of Island Business Activities and Enterprises; and the Impact of Climate Change on Small Island States.
